The Lamborghini Murciélago is a high-performance two-door, two-seat sports car that was produced by Italian automaker Lamborghini between 2001 and 2010. Often referred to as a supercar, it was the flagship of the automaker's lineup. The Murciélago was introduced as a coupé in 2001 for the 2002 model year, succeeding the famed Diablo supercar in Lamborghini's lineup. The car was the automaker's first new design in eleven years, as well as the first under the ownership of German automaker VW. It was styled by Peruvian-born Belgian Luc Donckerwolke, Lamborghini's head of design from 1998 to 2005.A roadster version of the car was introduced in 2004, followed by the updated LP 640 coupé and roadster and LP 650-4 Roadster. The final variation to wear the Murciélago nameplate was the LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, powered by the largest and final evolution of the historic Lamborghini V12 engine. Production of the Murciélago ended on 11 May 2010, with a total run of 4,099 cars. A successor, powered by a new V12 engine, is expected in 2011.The Murciélago is a four-wheel drive, mid-engined sports car. Its coupé body is especially low-slung, with its roof rising to just under four feet above the ground. The supercar features scissor doors, which contribute to its exotic image. First-generation Murciélagos, produced between 2001 and 2006, were powered by a 6.2-litre V12 which traces its roots back to the company's beginnings in the 1960s. The rear differential is integrated into the engine unit, and the four-wheel drive features a central viscous coupler. Power was sent to the wheels through a six-speed manual. The Murciélago possesses an independent double-wishbone suspension design, and features a combination of carbon-fiber and steel bodywork. The rear spoiler and the air scoops integrated into the car's shoulders are electromechanically activated, and fold out from the body at high speeds to aid aerodynamic performance and provide additional engine cooling, respectively.
In a continuation of Lamborghini's tradition of giving its cars names from the world of bullfighting, the Murciélago was named for a fighting bull that survived 28 sword strokes in an 1879 fight against Rafael "El Lagartijo" Molina Sanchez, at the Coso de los califas bullring in Córdoba, Spain. Murciélago fought with such passion and spirit that the matador chose to spare its life, a rare honor. The bull, which came from Joaquin del Val di Navarra's farm, was later presented as a gift to Don Antonio Miura, a noted local breeder; thus began the famed Miura line of fighting bulls, which provided the name for one of Lamborghini's first great cars.Murciélago is the Spanish name for the bat. The word is pronounced with a voiceless dental fricativeas in English thing in the Castilian Spanish spoken in most of Spain. However, the Italian automaker often uses the Southern Spain and Latin American Spanish pronunciation, , with an sound.

Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.,[Notes 1] commonly referred to as Lamborghini (pronounced [ ( listen)), is an Italian automaker based in the small township of Sant'Agata Bolognese. The company was founded by manufacturing magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini in 1963, with the objective of producing a refined grand touring car to compete with established offerings from marques like Ferrari. The company's first models were released in the mid-1960s, and were noted for their refinement, power, and comfort. Lamborghini gained wide acclaim in 1966 for the Miura sports coupé, which established mid-engine design as the standard layout for high-performance cars of the era. After a decade of rapid growth, hard times befell the company in the mid-1970s, as sales plunged in the wake of the 1973 world financial downturn and oil crisis. After going through bankruptcy and three changes in ownership, Lamborghini came under the corporate umbrella of the Chrysler Corporation in 1987. The American company failed to return the automaker to profitability and sold it to Indonesian interests in 1994. Lamborghini's lack of success continued through the 1990s, until the company was sold in 1998 to AUDI AG (Audi), a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, a German automotive concern. Audi's ownership marked the beginning of a period of stability and increased productivity for Lamborghini, with sales increasing nearly tenfold over the course of the 2000s, peaking in record sales in 2007 and 2008. The world financial crisis in the late 2000s saw Lamborghini's sales drop by nearly half by 2009, leading CEO Stephen Winkelmann to predict continued poor sales for supercar makers.
Assembly of Lamborghini cars continues to take place at the automaker's ancestral home in Sant'Agata Bolognese, where engine and automobile production lines run side-by-side at the company's single factory. Each year, the facility produces fewer than 3,000 examples of the two models offered for sale, the V10-powered Gallardo coupé and roadster. The flagship V12-powered Murciélago coupé and roadster were discontinued at the end of 2010, with a successor expected in 2011.The Lamborghini 350GTV was designed and built in only four months, in time for an October unveiling at the 1963 Turin Motor Show. Due to the ongoing disagreement with engine designer Giotto Bizzarrini, a working powerplant was not available for the prototype car in time for the show. The car went on display in Turin without an engine under its hood; according to lore, Ferruccio Lamborghini had the engine bay filled with bricks so that the car would sit at an appropriate height above the ground, and made sure that the bonnet stayed closed to hide the missing engine. motoring press gave the 350GTV a warm response.
The Automobili Lamborghini Società per Azioni was officially incorporated on October 30, 1963.[5] Ferruccio Lamborghini purchased a property at Via Modena, 12, in the township of Sant'Agata Bolognese, less than 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Cento. A sign at the entranced declared "Qui Stabilimento Lamborghini Automobile" (English: Lamborghini car factory here), boasting 46,000 square metres (500,000 sq ft) of space. Sant'Agata was chosen as the location for the factory due to a favorable financial agreement with the city's communist leadership, which would not tax the plant's profits for its first ten years of trading, along with receiving an interest rate of 19% on those profits when they were deposited in the bank. As part of the agreement, the workers would have to be unionized. Sant'Agata was deep in the cradle of Italy's automobile industry, meaning that Lamborghini's operation would have easy access to machine shops, coachbuilders, and workers with experience in the automotive industry.
The 350GTV was reworked into the production 350GT; the grand tourer sold a total of 120 copiesDespite the favorable press reviews of the 350GTV, Ferruccio Lamborghini decided to rework the car for production. The production model, which would be called the 350GT, was restyled by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, and a new chassis was constructed in-house. Bizzarrini's V12 engine would be detuned for mass production, developing only 280 hp rather than the designer's intended 360 bhp.[18] The completed design debuted at the 1964 Geneva Motor Show, once again garnering positive reviews from the press. Production began shortly afterwards, and by the end of the year, cars had been built for 13 customers; Lamborghini sold each car at a loss in order to keep prices competitive with Ferrari's. The 350GT remained in production for a further two years, with a total of 120 cars sold.

2011 saab cars 2010 pics

The new Saab 9-5, while basically designed and developed under GM’s aegis, is a wonderful, more American car than the previous edition. It still retains its Saab-ness, which is Saab’s unique character. The production of the 9-5 is a strong indication of Saab’s health under Spyker and its prospects for the futureFear not, Saab lovers, Saab is not dead. Although abandoned by government-owned GM, it survived not being bought by Koenisgburg, lay in purgatory for a couple of months, and was revived when Anthony Muller of Spyker put together a financial package and bought Saab at a bargain-basement price. The future is surprisingly rosy for the once almost-dead company, which is acting more like a skunk works for the near future, but with a GM-modernized factory to build its carsThe 9-5, Saab’s new flagship, has grown to nearly mid-size, with a 111.7-inch wheelbase. It’s built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Malibu, with almost an identical wheelbase. It has a wider track, however, which creates additional shoulder spaceStyling is pure Saab with a short nose section and longer rear overhang. The design was inspired by the Aero X concept car. There’s a new trapezoidal grille design that resembles an old Chrysler (modernized) and a new rear light cluster using LEDs. In addition, at night there’s a light bar that sweeps the entire width of the car, so you’ll know when you’re following a 9-5.Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 that delivers a healthy 300 horsepower. Saab has more than 30 years experience with turbocharging, and the engine doesn’t exhibit any of the dreaded turbo steer that can be found in other cars.
Handling is superb. We had an opportunity to drive the 9-5 on the wonderful Monticello Motor Club track and it handled like a dream. As a full-size car, it’s surprising how well the 9-5 handles on the track. The 6-speed automatic transmission can be manually shifted, and in track mode we kept it in third or second most of the time. I had no feeling of pushing the 9-5, yet I knew my times were decent. On the highway, however, we kept it in automatic.Article Source: theautochannel.com all new Saab 9-5 Saloon signals the start of a new era for the Saab brand. By the mid-1950s, Lamborghini's tractor company, Lamborghini Trattori S.p.'s wealth allowed him to cultivate a childhood interest in cars, owning a number of luxury automobiles including Alfa Romeos, Lancias, Maseratis, and a Mercedes Benz.[9] He purchased his first Ferrari, a 250GT, in 1958, and went on to own several more. Lamborghini was fond of the Ferraris, but considered them too noisy and rough to be proper road cars, likening them to repurposed track cars.[9] Lamborghini decided to pursue an automobile manufacturing venture, with the goal of bringing to life his vision of a perfect grand tourer.[ an Italian automaker based in the small township of Sant'Agata Bolognese. If you asked anybody to name the most common or typical family car, there is a very good chance that they will mention the Toyota Corolla. This car has been around since the late 1960s and continues to be one of the most popular cars in Australia and New Zealand. In 2010, The latest model of the Toyota Corolla comes in four main versions: the Ascent, the Conquest, the Ultima and the Levin. Most of these versions of the Toyota Corolla come in both sedan and hatchback versions, except the Toyota Corolla Levin, which comes only as a hatchback, and the Toyota Corolla Ultima, which is a sedan. The Toyota Corolla Ascent is the entry level and most popular model. All models of the latest Toyota Corolla have certain features in common, chief of which is the sweetly revving 1.8 litre VVT-i engine which packs 100 kW of power. Other enjoyable features common to all versions of the Toyota Corolla are the six-speaker MP3 compatible CD entertainment system, the power mirrors and the driver's side airbag. Central locking, keyless entry, power steering and air conditioning are other features common to all versions of the Toyota Corolla which are handy to have, even if they're not completely remarkable these days.Let's take a closer look at one version of the Toyota Corolla and review the Toyota Corolla Conquest Sedan. To look at, the designers seem to be shaking off the "bland and boring" looks of past Toyota Corollas and are beginning to make designs that are fresh, aerodynamic and harmonious, especially with the alloy wheels which come as standard. The interior of this version of the Toyota Corolla has a tasteful cloth trim and the bucket seats in the front add a sporty touch. The rear seats have a 60/40 split fold feature for added practicality. Cupholders in the front, engine immobiliser security and plenty of cabin storage spaces all add to the Toyota Corolla's pragmatic and sensible design. This version of the Toyota Corolla also has satellite navigation available as an option.Under the bonnet of the Toyota Corolla, you will find a well behaved and incredibly reliable DOHC petrol engine responding well to the driver via the five speed manual transmission. Some versions of the latest Toyota Corolla can reach a top speed of 200 km/h and can get from 0-100 km/h in under 10 seconds. The acceleration time seems a little unfair. For some reason, the car feels perkier. Perhaps its solid construction adds to the overall weight. As it targets the family car market, the Toyota Corolla has plenty of safety features. The Conquest sedan version of the Toyota Corolla has ABS braking with electronic
